man i wanna enjoy signalis. it looks like there's a really fucking good story in there and i want to see it play out. i just can't have a good time with the game though. the combat ruins it for me. i feel like it's just there to get in the way of my progression, to go "oops haha there no more ammo left guess you're fucked!!!" when all i want to do is explore the map and progress through the story. it completely ruins what looks like such a good fucking game, and im really sad about that.

here's the issue though - i'm well aware that this is just a me thing. i get the point of the combat, i get that's it's supposed to be like that. it's supposed to be a part of the game's experience. it's just that i hate that sort of experience in games. i'm the sort of person who plays minecraft in peaceful mode, or factorio with biters disabled. my favourite games are usually sandbox/puzzle games, with the occasional turn-based rpg thrown in there (mystery dungeon my beloved). i just really don't like real time combat. it doesn't vibe with my brain. and it sucks when i see a game that looks like it would be really interesting that features it, because i know that no matter how good it is, im just not gonna enjoy playing it, and i likely won't finish it.

maybe i can just settle for watching a video playthrough of signalis.

I normally don't like real time combat either. But for this particular one you can probably set combat in the lowest difficulty? Also you can avoid fighting against almost all enemies in favor of just stealthing around and running when they spot you.
I've played it like this and I rarely ran out of ammo, in fact I ended up having quite a bit of more advanced ammo because I was only using the pistol and saving a lot of the rest...
I just approached the combat in this game less like actual combat and more like a puzzle about: where should I spend my resources and how many should I spend? Once you picked where to actually start spending stuff I think the combat isn't that bad if you take a moment to plan it before you start alerting the enemies.

Sorry for the rant, I just finished playing it recently and I think it's a great game! Definetively was worth the effort for me.
