I believe this was debunked already and the reason they closed was like most other big retail chains: they got bought by a private equity firm
Who then sold all their real estate to another company that they spun off, resulting in RL suddenly needing to pay rent where they did not previously
it wasn't so much debunked as revealed that the equity ghouls owned the shrimp place too, and used the egregious overpurchasing of shrimp as a means of looting the company
i like the idea that there's a group of Ultimate Endless Shrimp experts you can call about this sort of thing
