Seattle Cohost

Wake

It's hard to lose a site we love, and to feel like we're losing a community along with it. But we don't have toโ€”even without the website, we can come together, celebrate what it brought to our lives, and plan how to bring that ethos and that community forward with us!

  • When: 1 October, 6:00pm
  • Where: Cal Anderson park, two blocks from the Capitol Hill light rail station (meet by the fountain)
  • Who: All Cohost users welcome!
  • What: Meet in person, make connections, hang out, and have a good time!

masks required ๐Ÿ˜ท

n95 or better!

eggbug plushies optional :eggbug:

but encouraged!

be there or don't!

???

in reply to @nex3's post:

hmm if i walk 24 hours a day it'll only take me......... 39 days to get there so i'll be a little late but i do have TWO eggbug plushies plus two custom eggbugs (one from my roommate & one that is made of an olive that i've had for two years) so it'll be worth the wait!!! fr this is such a lovely idea

For this... I think it's worth crawling out of the woodwork to show up here. A strange sentiment coming from someone who posted nothing aside from scattered comments on #ttrpg recruitment and request posts... but I've been an avid reader of so many fascinating people's chosts, and Cohost's impending closure has affected me far more strongly than I expected ๐Ÿ˜”.

I've added the wake to my calendar. Perhaps, in our time together, I may find closure on all the connections I didn't make with you extraordinary people here... and, perhaps, grab hold of a second chance with at least a few of you.

I'll be there if I can! Also hi Seattle :3

I sorta want to bring something but I don't really know what to bring! I'll just try to be there and if anyone wants to play a little game of cards or something let me know!

Fuck I'm literally getting on a plane trip that exact day, or I'd be there. I hope that this will be a great gathering for everyone who attends!

Edit: nevermind my flight got changed, see y'all at the wake.

Okay, here's my official confirmation that I will be attending the wake ๐Ÿ˜€:eggbug:. I look forward to making new connections with all of you who can make it, and pledge to contribute my utmost to the festivities. In that spirit, here's what I'm prepared to offer to enliven our evening. If this information belongs somewhere else where we're hashing out logistics for the event, I'll re-home it there.

My Contributions

Besides the mandatory mask, I will have on hand:

  • ๐ŸŽถ A single-chambered transverse ocarnia in alto C (if there's distance enough for me play while unmasked... otherwise, singing will do)
  • ๐Ÿƒ A deck of standard playing cards and a bag of six-sided dice for simple games.
  • ๐ŸŽด The card game Love Letter: Princess Princess Ever After; its simple rules, large cards, and minimal game pieces should suit park play.
  • ๐Ÿšฐ A water bottle and personal snacks to tide me over for the evening, plus a little extra in case someone else gets peckish.

Other Contributions on Request

If I receive requests in advance, I can also contribute the following to entertain all of us:

  • ๐Ÿฅ– A home-baked side dish, likely some sort of sourdough bread
  • ๐ŸŽค Specific songs to perform on ocarina or voice, as requested. I'm no professional, but I think I'm "good enough for karaoke" for both instruments. I may have to transpose or reject some requests that are out of range.
  • ๐ŸŽฒ A session of one of several tabletop role-playing games I can comfortably facilitate, lasting no more than two hours. See the "TTRPG Menu" below for more details.

TTRPG Menu

Depending on how complicated the parts are, we may have to move out of the park to pull this off, as I won't be bringing a foldable table or any furniture like that. I considered Phoenix Comics and Games, since is a block away from Cal Anderson Park... but they're closing early on October 1. We'll see what we have and what we need when we congregate.
