another weird week for us. @vogon, @jkap, and @jessfromonline are all mostly working on big code changes that haven't been finished yet; all we shipped this week were a few bug fixes. (most of which aren't publicly visible -- to help @kaara out with its support workflow!) speaking of workflows, we're also taking this opportunity to review our development practices and increase the amount of formal planning we do to better accommodate a 33% increase in staff! we hope this will help us reduce friction and even out our pace of work instead of landing a bunch of stuff one week and barely anything the next.

• we fixed an issue where if you attach multiple images to one post with substantially different shapes, some of the thumbnails would come out pixelated.

hi folks! had a short week this week (we were off monday and jae was out sick tuesday and wednesday) so we've got an equally short patch notes:

• fixed a bug where attachments with a # in the filename wouldn't display correctly
• changed how posts with lots of comments render to improve performance

thursday! patch notes! light week this week because there’s some Big stuff in here! colin’s internet was out yesterday and jae’s hands stopped working so we’re late but whatever! here’s what’s new:

• you can now change your page handle!
  • visit your page settings!
  • limited to one change per page per day so try to avoid typos
  • this required a fairly substantial refactor to become possible but we did it!
• added private user notes for individual pages
• fixed a bug where pinned tags would appear on private pages
• made more behind the scenes changes to our moderation tooling
• accidentally broke the entire website while trying to fix the bug around getting logged out too quickly
  • good news is it’s fixed now

Happy new year! This week’s patch notes are a bit short since we were out for a full week and are currently onboarding @kaara, so most changes are Behind The Scenes to make its job as moderator easier! That said, we’ve got a couple treats in here.

bugs to watch out for

There’s currently a known bug where pinned tags on private pages are visible to people who don’t follow the page (but only the fact that they’re pinned, not any of the posts in the pinned tags). This was an unexpected oversight; until tag pinning was introduced, all information associated with a page itself was world-visible. We’re working on fixing this right now, and we’ll let you know when it’s fixed.
