I think pet peeves and turn offs are different from icks personally. I can deal with the first two, but the second one I think is more extreme. Like, a pet peeves is that they snore, an ick is like if they hate gay people lol. Atleast that's how I look at it
this perspective makes more sense, i kinda think its just how childish people sound sometimes with talking about their “icks” and misusing the term, but also the word itself just sounds kinda gross lmao. i will consider its use acceptable in this situation
