i don’t understand why brodyquest is taking up so much of my brainspace recently. or why i watched it constantly as a kid. why is this meme video about some actor i don’t care about so compelling and why was it compelling enough to get like 12 million views and probably hundreds of parodies in its style

Some of that is just Neilcic’s cultural cache in that era I think. I honestly had very little awareness of Brody existing (id probably heard his name a few times and seen a movie or two that he was in, maybe) until Brodyquest, so I always interpreted the video as just something silly/absurd, and that went a long way in internet humor of the 2010s.
I feel like if i could pick any individual creator who best represented “internet meme humor of the 00’s-10’s” it would be him most likely, just due to the sheer volume of major hits and impact on everyone else’s humor of the era.
It also helps that the song slaps and most of neilcic’s memes involved his/his band’s original music, which is usually both funny AND technically well executed
yeah honestly i think hit the nail on the head w all of this. on the thing about cultural awareness with brody, kid me had no idea who the fuck brody was and adult me still doesn’t besides the fact that he was in whatever The Pianist is and neither of us really care because he’s basically The Brodyquest Guy to us
