i am infuriated to no end that primary and secondary education, at least in the united states, seems geared to turn as many people that go through it against the idea of actual academic thought and practice as possible. everything about it feels like a setup to make you feel like all of this shit is completely useless and arbitrary work for the sake of work, and that any of the reasons they give for why it’s important you learn it is just nonsense. so that you won’t be interested in actually thinking about things and learning about the world (and how to take it apart) and will just sit down and do whatever you’re told without questioning it. it’s all the same, isn’t it? still just arbitrary work for the sake of work. you could never be fulfilled with what you do, you’ll never get anything from it. it’s all just dreary nonsense, always, forever. so you better get used to it.
