in minesweeper, you often end up with “50/50”s. situations where you can click on two different tiles and each of them are equally likely to have a mine. this is unavoidable. a fact of life. it’s easy to sit there and dawdle, fretting over which to choose, asking the minesweeper subreddit which to choose only for your woes to fall on deaf ears because they cannot help you.
however, if you’re speedrunning, you have no time for this.
you must pick an option and commit. you may not know if a mine is going to be under that tile, but if you stop for even a few seconds, it doesn’t matter if you lose the run from clicking on a mine, because you’re probably going to lose the run anyway from stopping to worry about it.
this is why it’s ESPECIALLY important to commit on important runs. runs where you might set a new personal best. hell, maybe you’re even on pace to win it all and hit a world record. but you might lose if you click the wrong tile here…
no. don’t flinch.
hesitation doesn’t stop death, but it does stop life.
(or, in this case, PB’s.)
