i tried out armored core for answer a few days ago and it was a very strange experience because you can just Tell 2008 fromsoft made it. it’s a completely different kind of game with completely different design objectives from something like demon’s souls, but it has a bizarre amount of shared DNA because it was made by the same people around the same time with the same design principles guiding it. and the coolest part is how, as far as i can tell, the lessons they’ve learned from making soulsborne games over the past 15 years have come full circle and made armored core 6 what it is, with stuff like the sekiro stagger mechanic and how melee builds apparently feel really nice in that game. i can’t help but feel like i’m kind of being That Girl annoyingly comparing soulsborne to armored core, AC is a series that deserves to stand on its own instead of living in the shadow of soulsborne stuff, but i feel like there is a lot of genuinely cool stuff to talk about here since despite their differences they are both undeniably fromsoft games through and through
