Personally I think the L and J piece are slept on because they've got uses that aren't talked about much, like for example if you're doing 1-wide and you're not getting an I-piece you can downstack with an L/J, there's a bunch of T-spin setups that use the L/J's unique shape, and they can both fit a 2-wide gap AND a 3-wide gap when stacking up. Also it kinda looks like a chair or a bed with a pillow
