also i should have known thorium. but wild how many place names there are. americium, europicum, califorium, darmstadtium?

btw i tried getting them in order at first, singing along to asapscience's periodic table song, but i didn't get that far screenshot of my progress trying to get the elements in order, i forgot about scandium and then it turned into chaos

a lot of the later elements were discovered in research labs, especially ones in countries with nuclear programs, and those places usually named new elements after the place they were if they hadn't yet. (e.g. dubnium (dubna, germany), yttrium & ytterbium (ytterby, sweden), berkelium & californium (university of berkeley, california). i recommend watching this video for more info on how the later elements were discovered
