it's so annoying because utilitylimb was so old an account that i dont think you ever had to purge it, just leave it as it is? Move on. You're one of the last people online who can just leave a piece of digital work unsigned with anything tracable. Just move on.

far be it from me to get mad at someone for participating in "the hustle", but given that u-limb has barely 20k followers and probably 18.5k of them haven't logged in since 2015, i'm going to go with "why'd you have to piss on something beautiful, man"

i mean on one level i get it, like if i had one trump card between me and The Opportunity and i was in one of my many bad spots in life i'd see myself playing it.... but also i'd regret it forever. That's maybe one of the two or three twitter accounts i literally think about ALL THE TIME.

the fact that they did it for an audience of like 500 is what kills me. like with their wit, they could just start from scratch. open a new account, make a few wild posts, and get more active followers than that in like a week, instead of like, going up to the painting they managed to get into a gallery over a decade ago and plastering a flyer over it

i have a """legendary""" (5k followers?) German gas leak tweeter who i have the exact same feelings about but she got banned for sh posting (i think) and decided to just leave. i don't even remember her name although i might be able to google the content of her posts as i remember it

i don't think i will ever internalize the point about ephemerality but things like these happen so often and with comedy posts in particular it feels somewhat voyeuristic. "bro i am archiving your posts for posterity" bffr

yeah idk, if someone was specifically saving my or your posts that'd be weird, but if you stand up in front of an audience of millions in the 21st century and perform a comedy routine specifically designed for mass appeal in a format that has no definite lifespan you gotta expect that to have at least the endurance of a one-off HBO special

to wit, i found out a while back that every single one of my youtube videos is archived on IA the moment it goes up and i was momentarily like "wow this sucks" and then i was like "literally what was i expecting when i opted to become a public figure"
