Pretty much every time I need to use a bathroom in public, my brain walks through this thought process. Even in AFAB spaces I get confused and questioning looks but thankfully not a lot of problems but still. I really appreciate places that have single occupant non-gendered bathrooms. Just let us go in peace.

The weird (maybe not so weird?) thing is that I'm transfem (AMAB) and I can relate to this a lot, in the sense that I just kinda default to the mens' room because I'm scared some conservative will make a scene if I go in the ladies' room or at the very least I'll get stared at.

I totally can understand that. It boggles me why going to the bathroom is such a contention point for so many people. I still get weird looks in the "ladies" room, but since I pretty clearly pass (at least at a 2nd glance), even when I'm wearing androg/masc clothes, it feels like the safer option.
