You know I've been assuming for a while that the serious answer to this question is it's not male to female womanization but child to adult. That is, he makes a girl into a woman by taking her virginity*, but I decided to look it up and according to this stackexchange post (https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/477785/how-did-womanizer-develop-its-current-meaning) at least the implication is that he's womanizing himself and it's like a 19th century version of "fellas is it gay to like women?"
*I don't like this framing but you know gestures vaguely
This is fascinating. I honestly hadn't thought in depth about it but this all makes sense especially for Victorian era sensibilities.
