Continuing my descent into the Eurorack pit: my Moog Mavis and powered rack finally arrived, which was a relief, seeing as I'd fallen for the very predictable temptation of picking up other modules in the meantime.
I did underestimate how much space the Volca Sample with the adapter would take up, so unfortunately I do not have space for everything I originally planned - thankfully it's not too much work to swap out modules, even if the Moog rack's sliding nut design does take some getting used to.
The Mavis was pretty straightforward to put together - I do feel a bit odd calling it a DIY kit when all the electronics are pre-assembled and there's practically no risk of messing anything up, but it is a nice way to pass 45 minutes. I'm still getting to grips with it as a synth - the basic signal path is thankfully straightforward, but the patching hasn't totally clicked for me yet. It is a lot of fun though - will try to post some tunes once/if I get past the "weird robot noises" stage!
