Starting 2024 with a new set of terrible decisions:

  • Even though I like the Erica Pico DSP, its reverb didn't do much for me, so I got a Happy Nerding FX AID XL, which lets you both switch out effects and modulate all the parameters over CV. I was originally going to get the FX Aid Pro, but instead I ended up getting
  • Expert Sleepers' Disting EX: even though part of the fun of modular is having all of the parameters physically accessible, the Disting is a really nice multifunction module to have in a small rack, and the EX' OLED screen (tiny as it is) makes it possible to use without constantly looking at the manual. It is a pretty deep module both in the figurative and the most literal sense, though - it just barely fit in my Moog rack, so double-check that first!
  • ADDAC's Pedal Integrator - I'm really looking forward to seeing how it works with a looper :)
  • Michigan Synth Works' version of the CVPal - it's maybe a bit overkill considering the Disting can already work as a MIDI-CV interface, but it's cheap, 2 HP, and it's nice to avoiding spend an algorithm slot on it.

I also got Neutral Labs' Nijel as a Christmas present - I really like it because it lends itself to fun interactions and unique sounds, while also being a good distortion effect in its own right.
