So I have been trying to participate in the /r/fantasy book bingo and hoo boy what a book I decided to start with: Le Mont Analogue by René Daumal for the Magical Realism square.

I started the book in early April and just finished. Not because it's long (barely a hundred pages) or because it's boring (it's honestly hilarious, if jokes about Hegelian Dialectics and Extremely German Mountaineering are your thing), but because I decided to read it in French, and who would've guessed, reading a book in a language I'm not fluent in takes a lot of mental energy.

Still a fun read though, and light enough to be feasible second-language material. Beware lots of mountain climbing words though.

Anyway, I'd recommend it, but be aware that Daumal died before finishing it and the book cuts off midsentence in chapter 5.
