Final pictures of the Going Merry for now. I did a bit more work since the last pictures, though there still are a few last touches.
All I have left is:
- Carving: 70 holes on rigging, 4 holes on main sail
- Painting: main sail, stripes on rear sail, horizontal masts, attachment points on rigging, touch up rear mast, panel line front and rear railings, cannon, anchor (if I ever find it)
- Stickers: main sail, rear flag
- Other: cement railings to deck and to each other, add additional rigging to sails
...oops.
Still, I'm really happy with how this first Build Club turned out. I started with three kits and only finished one (almost), but I tried out something new on each one and surprised myself with how far I went on each. I made a detailed paint plan for the Nacchin, resculpted details on the Gunbuster RX-7, and pushed my painting and carving skills on the Going Merry. For the first time in a long time, I failed to meet a deadline and yet have been fully without regrets.
Now with Build Club #2 coming up, have I learned my lesson about over-committing? ...more on that shortly.
