so.. hold on. locked accounts can comment on posts, and you can't see the comment unless you follow that locked account?? so you can just have phantom comments on posts? you could also, theoretically, have a load of hate comments you can't see. like there could be an entire breakdown of why someone thinks you're a monumental bellend and its hidden from you?

On the left is an unsuspecting user witnessing a phantom comment on their post.

On the right is the truth revealed: someone has blocked OP, and is still able to leave hate comments. This hate comment is invisible to OP, but visible to everyone else as the comment is left by a public account.

It seems like they're simply trying to "glow it right" or "make it go right" by ignoring it and hoping it goes away on its own.

Struggling financially. Furnace blower keeps breaking. HVAC and insulation leaks bad. Half the electrical outlets don't work. Half the plumbing doesn't work. Roof is leaking. Floors are water damaged. SNAP benefits haven't renewed yet. Mom's started radiation each day for a month. We're waiting on disability and unable to work. Currently enrolled in college.

A lot of people can say anything about how much they want a better world, but when push comes to shove, they aren't willing to sacrifice anything.

This is Social Media's biggest footbullet, and maybe organisation shouldn't happen on it.

I would say that IRC would be better, as it tends to be a bit more ephemeral. Granted, messages aren't encrypted by default, but if you use TLS/SSL, then that's not an issue.
