Every summer I sit down and play through Quake II in a single sitting. It's like my own little celebration to ring in the long lazy days. But I realised after talking with some friends that this will be my 25th year completing this odd ritual, so I wanted to do something special.

Now I know Q2 is a bit of a meme these days, but this game is so incredibly important to me. It introduced me to online multiplayer, mods, scripting, coding, graphics libraries, vertex animation, and even understanding how the net worked. Yes "the worst quake" taught pre-teen stroggo how the internet worked on protocol, and infrastructure level! So yeah, its kinda responsible for my hobbies, profession, etc..

Anyway I usually stream it to my friends as a sort of hang-out thing, but this time will be public. Also there's supposed to be a remaster dropping this year, so I could probably throw that in.

So, if you have any ideas how I could make this time extra special I'd love to hear!

in reply to @stroggo's post:

I recently replayed Quake 2 thanks to the RTX release, and actually went all the way through using cylindrical projection (because why not and peripheral vision is neat). I had an absolute blast, the back half of the game surprised me how great it is even after all this time.

I refuse the moniker of 'worst quake' for Quake 2, because I feel like Quake 3 (in spite of being great for multiplayer) is the "worst" in terms of campaign and setting.
