i’ve always thought of stuff like the stock market as respectable forms of gambling but learning more about more recent business moguls is making me start to realize that a lot of the ppl responsible for the current state of capitalism have been or are basically just gambling addicts. once you start looking at it like that a LOT falls into place

i think ive found the disconnect and it has to do with how we've misunderstood human learning i.e people prefer expert lecturers who have good flow who make you Think You've Learned Something but in reality you'd learn way more Doing so they watch ted talks and go "im a genius now.."

yeah we live inside of a pachinko parlour. nothing we do is for the purpose, that’s just the conceit to justify a new fun themed machine for them.
it's so infuriating, i figured up until my 20s that the adults who run things at least knew SOME stuff i didn't, that the world is the way it is for reasons i wasn't experienced enough to understand, and no! it's just rich dipshits playing dice with our lives because they've lost touch with humanity. it's insultingly simplistic
it's cool how we just legalized "gambling 2: gambling with other peoples' lives," like a game of russian roulette but the gun is only ever pointed at someone else
They do not get to be stupid.
"Incompetence" and "stupidity" both imply an innocence that does not apply to them.
"Hanlon's Razor" should not be applied to anyone powerful enough to harm you with impunity.
oh don’t mistake me!! i absolutely think that vast majority are evil ALSO, and usually the most venal kind, and those definitely use the benefit of the doubt to obfuscate and evade prosecution— at certain levels of power i believe one should always lean towards intentionality when seeking motivation in order to avoid encouraging that behavior.
but they’re also just, like, REALLY stupid as individuals and there’s ample historical evidence for this
