I want to make a renamon sona but idk what to change to differentiate between me and a normal renamon. the last time i tried to think of something i decided on blue/teal sleeves, but a quick search revealed that someone else had already done that. I tried again and ended up with a black and red sona like shadow the hedgehog or something and at the end of it i was like, "nah this looks too much like My First Fursona". Maybe the face shape of the my vrchat avatar is enough of a difference? Its definitely off model from standard renamon. I also might try out the teal sleeves anyway

I was gonna type that this was relatable for Luna, but actually a full five of us started from canon designs and got iterated on by ourselves from there. (FWIW Luna's design is still somewhat in flux.)

Lots of small changes can really come together to a recognisably distinct form. Cradle's our prime example of this, since it isn't a robot or made of rubber or anything, just a floragato. The differences she has are mostly the shape of things, generally being bulkier, and some parts just curving differently. The jewellery and lynx tufts also do a lot. Finally, her colouration is slightly off canon, although it's mostly noticable side by side.

As far as what you've mentioned, facial shape does actually do a lot, even if it's very subtle. While teal sleeves may not be an entirely unique feature, alone they'll still set you apart from >90% of renamons.

I feel like this post is a bit of a mess, but probably contains at least something worth posting, so, uh, I guess I'm sending it.
