pls recommend pony fanfic to me!!!!

but not like, fanfic that will give me an existential crisis when i read it, i think thats cool but rn i just want some lighter stuff to read. conflict is okay!! but everything my friend reads they are like "this is some real fucked up stuff happens in this" and im like ooh nty.

but ya, cute stuff, slice of life stuff, adventurey stuff, smutty stuff, slutty stuff, whatever im game!!! just lmk what im getting into! also i have read very few fanfic so i guarantee u even if its a popular thing i probably havent read it. theres so much idk how to find anything haha

So fair warning basically all my ponyfic reading happened in like, 2011, so canon conflicts abound, I'm sure. All pretty fluffy though, as was the style at the time they all try to do an overarching plot, but if they didn't start out as fluff they wouldn't have had the room to do that imo

The Vinyl Scratch Tapes I'm so normal about TaviScratch lmao, and this would be why, delightful through and through, I can't help but try and do the voices as I read, because the dialogue and comedic timing and aaaaa

Worst Bakers of Equestria I cackle all the way through this one every time, and yet there's some interesting substance to this one too! This one dukes it out with the above for my "fave fanfic of all time" title, I'll never be able to pick

The Combinatorics Project Sometimes a fanfic isn't so much a story as a mad science experiment, and this one is definitely the latter. kinda can't believe how well it works, for that (wow I just remembered this was the origin of a genuine conversational life hack I still use with my SO 12 years later, keyword "cupcake")

since this popped up again I have another few to share, less curated on my part but EqD rated them very highly, just ones I remember seeing around and reading back then, I'll probably read them again myself soon:

Tonight I Shall Be Laughter starting off with a couple "what's Luna up to anyway" classics. this one's short and sweet

Progress This one was really popular at the time, kind of the definitive fan-Luna fic

On a Cross and Arrow genderflipping explorations

Heart of Gold, Feathers of Steel this one is notably darker, Gilda's going through some shit, and the politics of griffon/pony relations are fraught. I do remember thinking pretty highly of it, though.

Allegrezza Another TaviScratch shipfic, slightly saucier IIRC? but also it's still E-rated on FiMFic so can't be by that much. I don't think I read more than a few chapters back then, but I liked what I did read. Curious to see where it went from there.

I'm gonna dump three more here that are more for my future reference than actual recommendations lol

Anthropology I do remember there being a significant Lyra fandom and this would be ground zero of that to my understanding
