recommended youtube video thumbnails that have me like "I don't like that thing either but the last thing I want to here is someone acting like the opinion is an objective fact"

It's not "Here's a detailed explanation about why I do not personally enjoy games that one might classify as cozy" it's "Cozy games suck lol"

I fucking love elaborating and exploring on the things people like and dislike in video games and this kind of language and phrasing just completely ruins that in favor of engagement.

one of my many problems with this is that, if it sounds like a statement of something as fact and it's against something i like, i immediately disengage. your shit take is not worth my time, and if you can explain further and make it not sound shitty well too bad you've already lost me

Ah but why offer a medium for direct feedback when you can offer a medium for engagement (comments)? And then basically just bait users into going into the comment section for any reason, good or bad?

Engagement focused mediums like this prioritize this kinda crap over balanced analysis.

It's funny because as somebody who does enjoy "cozy games" or games that could easily be described as such, there's absolutely issues I have with the current trend/glut of them that would be interesting to discuss in detail; but apparently people aren't interested in that discussion at all.

But I also think the categorisation gets a lot of undeserved shit because of who it primarily appeals to (IE - not "hardcore" "gamers"); so the entire discourse around it is kind of a poison chalice to begin with.
