hello people who (almost certainly) know more about computers than i do

i wanted to build a computer earlier this year, but due to Life Events, wound up putting it off. however, before Life Events, i purchased a power supply, and some RAM.

my question is, should i stick with the build i was intending? or should i try and find an updated build since it's been several months?

here is the build i was intending to put together: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tL7CBj

i also already have the hard drive thanks to a friend

any advice is appreciated, i... really do not know enough about these things to feel confident in either way

in reply to @brookehorse's post:

i’m not an intel guy and generally don’t like them/think they’re poor value. but you could have your reasons for that choice

the ram being DDR4 is convenient now but will become a burden in a couple years - assuming you were to upgrade beyond 32gb, which is unlikely

that’s all that stands out to me in my sleep deprived state

hm, yeah, i dont trust a lot of no-name brand nvme or storage in general, they're usually negligent as hell abt warranty, overstate endurance1 and only give you peak perf numbers which don't hold up to real world because they cheap out on cache/slc

and like that's where all your files live!

if you've got the budget wiggle room of like probably in the neighbourhood of $25-30 i'd consider a boring but reliable workhorse like a WD SN580 in its place

  1. yeah i dont buy for a second that their QLC beats major manufacturers TLC in write endurance by hundreds of TBW
