just from watching folks play it, Too Many Types has been entertaining. it adds an extra 44 types and reworks everything to use them.
I've been keeping an eye on Pokemon Inclement Emerald. General rebalancing of the expanded pokedex as well as a harder and more customizable difficulty. Good if she wants a challenge from the pokemon experience.
Emerald Rogue might be the only rom hack I've played more than the original game, and I've played a lot of Emerald. It's a roguelite where each run gives you different Pokemon, maps, items, gym order, everything. The more you play, the more options you have for your next run. It hasn't updated in a while, since the creator's been busy, but it's a lot of fun!
