in my lords of gossamer and shadow game, my character went through a door that led to a world where everything was inverted, so she became the opposite of herself. instead of hex (the big one in the picture), a giant warbeast created to smash stuff up indiscriminately without a second thought, she was xell (the small one in the picture), a sleek and calculating little thing with a clear purpose. the opposite of a sledgehammer is a carefully aimed sniper shot, and that's what xell is. it's very cute- purposefully so- but it will kill you without a second thought if you are its designated target.
hex is so big and so strong. she's very intimidating, and she knows it. but at her core is a gentle and kind person who does not want to frighten or hurt anyone. she just wants to find a place for her to exist safely in the endless expanse of the multiverse, one that doesn’t involving fighting or killing. she desperately longs for companionship and acceptance, but she is unsure if a creature like her can ever have something like that.
xell is small and cute. it’s designed this way on purpose so that it can get close to its target without being seen as a threat. it has no desire to be anything but a terrifyingly efficient killing machine. the only time it would ever accept companionship is to complete its mission, and as soon as its mission was accomplished it would kill its "friends" without a second thought. leave no trace behind.
in the moment, being xell felt good and correct. xell knows what it is and does not wish for anything more. it has a clarity of mind that hex has simply never had. but once she left the world hex was deeply shaken by the experience. even if she doesn't know how much she wants to be hex, she knows for certain that does not want to be xell ever again.
