To an extent you have this, like with the yinglets and synths and protogens and sergals and such, but I think what it comes down to is that it takes a level of creativity to come up with your own critter instead of just a wolf or one of the open species, and it feels like at this point most furries don't do much creating themselves
And Also more deviation even within those, there was a long time where I didn't like protogens bc they felt all the same, there seems to be a lot more creativity with them now
