wondering how much documentation would improve if tech companies just banned superfluous voice meetings
like gee, i wonder why i can never find answers for anything when there's never a written record of even the question?
it's been a constant problem throughout my entire career that somehow nobody wants to answer a question somewhere it's actually fucking written down. no I don't want to take a call, I want you to put the answer in Slack so we can actually find it again in a week when both of us have forgotten.
The tl;dr of this is that so much of the industry is absolutely 100% averse to taking responsibility for their work, so they don't want to write anything down either that could be referred to at a later point in time, because what if they were wrong? There's no way they could ever admit that.
