With Cohost shutting down and me starting up a couple new blogs, a Discord server, new microblogging accounts, an RSS feed, and so on, I've been fantasizing about having one icon on my desktop labelled something like "INITIALIZE COMMAND CENTER" that I could double-click and it would launch a Firefox browser with a bunch of individual tabs for Bluesky, Discord, my website dashboard, etc open already so I don't have to go through and click all the bookmarks individually like a caveman.

This feels like it should be trivial to accomplish. Is there tool or applet somewhere that could accomplish this goofy little task for me?

  • You can set your homepage to Custom URLs and make it a bunch of tabs separated bya pipe (|). Easiest way to do this is to open everything up, and in the same window, go to settings, home, homepage and new windows, custom URLs... and click "Use current pages"
    • this of course does mean that you will not be able to Restore previous windows/tabs, at least not without workarounds
  • theres a whole bunch of different browsers trying to bring in features taking it away from the chrome-style extreme minimalism we've become used to. i haven't them for very long lol but i think vivaldi, opera, webflow might have different ways of achieving this

Yay! I have a buncha batch files for things like this, they're so useful

(You can also launch multiple different apps if you need, too; just repeat the "start" argument on a new line below the first, and change the path as needed. Real good for situations where you tend to launch several apps at the same time!)

OH! You can also store the .bat file elsewhere and make a shortcut to it, if you want to customize its icon
