the new switches I was waiting for arrived today so I've finally assembled both of my Weltall-inspired keyboards!

A model of Weltall, a mech from the game Xenogears, standing above a mechanical keyboard that is visually themed to match the mech

Weltall

Does one really need the power to destroy everything?

Zuoya GMK67
Chosfox x Kailh Arctic Fox clicky switches
GMK Alter keycaps

On the whole, very happy but I need to get a couple solid red accent keys partly because I want to represent Weltall's red accents, but also because this set is designed for an FGO character so there's things like the sword on the enter key that don't quite fit.

A model of Weltall-Id, a mech from the game Xenogears, standing above a mechanical keyboard that is visually themed to match the mech

Weltall-Id

That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating...take it back!

Keychron Q3 Special Edition
Keychron K Pro Banana tactile switches
Akko Black Shine-through accent keycaps

The default Q3 got me like 80% of the way there (red frames are surprisingly rare), but I needed something with shine through that would let me play up Weltall-Id's teal ether wings. I'm also probably going to replace the Pro Banana switches, not because they're bad (they're quite good!) but just because I just deeply love clicky switches.

in reply to @zellyn's post:

i came across this when i was looking at the model kits because i wanted to see the completed ones in a setting with natural light. this project is so cool, i may have to nab some alter caps myself

I've been pretty happy with them so far but I'm 99% sure they're clones since the original group buy was from four years ago. The dye sub on them is less than amazing (you can sorta see how the top of the keycap is darker than the edges) but you have to stare pretty hard and in specific lighting to notice so I'm not losing any sleep.

yeah for sure that checks out. i wish the clones didnt have the alter keys lol i'm definitely considering buying a set and getting some red accent keys to put over like alt + enter + esc i think that'd be like just the right touch of red accentuation
