Modern games get criticized for being too handholdy, except when they're not and then they get criticized for not explaining anything

"How was I supposed to figure it out?" I dunno, have you tried experimenting? Taking notes? Some good old trial and error? Actually reading the tutorials and ability descriptions instead of ignoring everything because 10 years ago an influential youtuber who is not a game designer claimed tutorials are always bad because NES platformers didn't have them?
