you're in the UK right? have you considered just taking it in for refurb? probably way cheaper than a new machine.
damb not in the uk, but someone suggested going through the education store because theyre cheap and apparently no one checks if youre actually a student haha
if US, I can recommend Optimum Data in omaha; they do a great job at a fair price on the cisco equipment we have that gets busted
you can also get macbook airs a few years old on eBay for ones of hundreds of dollars sometimes
