pros and cons of deactivating my instagram~
pros:
· my content won't be fed to meta's ai database (big one)
· government will have less access to my political/activist activity
· no more annoying and invasive "suggested" posts
· probably other things i don't even know about
cons:
· can't promote music to 99% of the people who are contacting me about gigs
· will lose almost all of my visibility as an artist
· won't see any of my irl friends' content
· won't be able to direct people who are interested in learning more about me to anything they actually use
· will lose a cool handle (stupid one)
· probably other things i haven't thought about
what do i DOOOO
honestly that's a pretty smart idea! problem is that my profile is also a portfolio of all my work as a musician and visual artist which helps people decide whether or not to book/commission me etc. the other 10% is posters promoting my shows and such. ANDD i'm guessing meta has all the shit that's already on there stored somewhere anyway. which i'm realizing negates the whole point of deactivating in the first place. i guess the solution is just to post less and yea use it to direct people to my website
