pretty common way to denote major (uppercase roman numeral) and minor (lowercase) chords! the number is relative to the key the song's in
the relative (chord number) notation strikes me as interesting. that's less info than the chord names and they take up the same amt of space! I guess the numbers are a little cleaner to read? or there is some rock music reason my classical brain can't fathom
I found it easier for me to follow the functional harmony when it's in numeral notation, like V to me is way more significant than B -- AND it prepares me for possible transposition should the need arise
