I got a Fairphone a while ago and last week I accidentally dropped it in the toilet. At first it seemed okay. Then the screen went blank and it no longer responded to being touched, though I could see the backlight turn on if I pressed the power button. Now, due to the modular design it is probably a lot less water-resistent than a lot of phones, so maybe if I had dropped an iPhone in the toilet it might not have had any problems in the first place, but because it’s modular I knew that if worse cames to worst I could replace the screen entirely, but also I was able to disassemble the phone, wipe everything off, clean all the contact points with isopropyl alcohol, and leave it to dry by a dehumidifier for a few hours. And after reassembling it everything worked perfectly again.
