I used to (years and years ago) use filters on my selfies in order to look better and less flawed, and I'm glad I eventually decided to completely avoid them. I think it's been good for my self-image to be seeing and my confidence to be getting likes and compliments on pictures of me as I actually look, wrinkles and blemishes and all, and I would recommend keeping your selfies raw. You can do just one every now and then if you're unused to it and it's scary.
Dark shoutouts to my current phone, which had a "beautify" setting in the stock camera app enabled by default, making you go into a non-obvious menu to turn it off. Your mileage may vary, but having this on would 100% make me feel worse about my real face and make being seen in person a worse experience for me.
