they're a fictional species (similar to sergals and protogens and such) from a webcomic called Out-of-Placers (https://www.valsalia.com/)
they talk with a z instead of a th because they just physically cant pronounce it
its VERY funny seeing the sheer amount of yinglet furries on cohost relative to the general population lol
oh I wonder is it intentional that the Z that’s used in the lettering in the comic is very similar to an insular Ꞇ
also to be clear the “talking like they’re French” thing was a joke I got that that is not what was happening but it did make me think of like stereotypical French person speaking English accent and I wanted to make the joke. But I was also genuinely curious so thank you for the info!
