Some random thoughts about my Storm Hunter build, and Elden Ring builds in general:
- My favourite weapon types are heavy thrusting swords and greatspears, but in particular the ones that have a thrusting light attack and a sweeping heavy attack. Vyke's spear is one of my favourite weapons, as well as being the one i used for a lot of my first playthrough.
- Weapon skills that perform some kind of lunge are generally a fave too, though also those that cast a projectile. Storm blade was one i knew i wanted ever since i saw it in the very first trailers, and boy did it live up to that expectation. Same with the Reduvia's blood blade, another weapon i used heavily on my first run.
- Combining those two facts, i should not at all be surprised by how much i'm enjoying the Dragon King's Cragblade. It's almost exactly my thing!! If only it had that sweeping heavy i so crave, but alas, only the Great Epee does.
- While playing through this character (dex-focused, trying to use weapon skills instead of magic) i learned that i love spellcasting too much to stay away from it. Needless to say, i've been trying to use the lightning spells as often as possible, and Honed Bolt is ever proving to be a good standard pick spell. Lightning Spear is also faster than i give it credit for, so i want to keep that on more often as well.
- Spark aromatics are strong! But regrettably i overestimate their range and miss somewhat often. Being limited to 10 is probably fine, and the crafting recipe isn't too bad to grind for, but eventually i am going to have to go back and bully the giant flowers in weeping peninsula and i'm not particularly looking forward to that. At least they should be even more trivial to beat now that i've got fire gear as well.
- The ice lightning weapons are... alright? i guess? but a little boring. Spent so much time on the one dragonkin in the lake of rot and now i'm not really using the dragonbone katana very often. Hoping for some more love for ice lightning in the DLC, it's a cool concept.
