Manual testing adding some noise to dial in the effects i want for Flare spells.
Unfortunately, because i'm using simple SVGs for all my sprites (for ease of creation and editing) there's not really a good way for me to add noise in.
I mean maybe i could overlay it as a whole embedded image inside the svg? Would probably not be that hard to cook up a generic noise texture to use for that, but it would be a bit harder to customize the noise later down the line, if i ever wanted to do so.
Right now i'm thinking i might add another parameter to the shaders i'm using, just a simple noise overlay to add some more visual interest and break up the clean lines i get from simple linear and circular gradients.
Also why the hell are the default noise settings in GIMP so godawful? I really need to just get rid of that thing entirely, i've officially outgrown it and should probably look for something less... that.
