starting from ten to one...whoooo
10.) konngara. now, it's probably for a shallow reason, but she was one of my formal introductions to gender ambiguity. she's a formative character for me in that regard. 9.) sariel. mainly because of their own gender ambiguity and my own angel delusions. 8.) fujiwara no mokou. i love her because she's basically a lighter dan hibiki style plotline, where a person vows revenge on another for what the other did to their father, but instead of "kaguya murdered my father" it's "kaguya rejected my father and humiliated him forever". she's a brash, tough old woman who takes no shit and only acts soft around keine, who is at... 7.) keine. i love kind, responsible teacher types who are more feminine than their masculine counterparts but can kick ass, and i love how keine clearly cares for her human students who don't know she's a were-hakutaku, but wouldn't hesitate to eat a person's history if they got on the wrong end of a student-teacher conference. best teacher ever. 6.) patchouli knowledge. she reminds me of my younger sister: both have asthma, both are super smart, and both have snarky, acerbic personalities that contrast with their perkier counterparts (in this case, me for my sister and meiling for patchouli). 5.) remilia scarlet. she's basically female tony stark AND vampire karin kanzuki, and tony stark type characters are ALWAYS better when they're female. 4.) sakuya izayoi. another character that reminds me of my sister, except she reminds me of my sister's fussy, moral, kindhearted and polite side. 3.) maribel hearn. i love how well written maribel is in the side story cds, and the theory that she's a past? future? alternate universe? yukari waiting for ren to come back is just. ough. 2.) meiling hong. i love everything about her character in hisotensoku, from her shonen hero attitude to her blatant adhd to the fact she probably has an undiagnosed psychotic disorder. she's so much more than "chinese girl" she is EVERYTHING to me 1.) kosuzu motoori. oh my gosh i love this girl. she is so sweet and kind and the kind of person i want to hang out with, and her story of discovering herself within a community of women who also don't fit in is so...oughhghhh zun what's your secret for writing queer women
