and his final interaction with Fajo is as close to flipping him an angry double deuce as he's capable of directly expressing

somewhat relatedly, ever since i was a kid i wanted something to subvert the "robot thinks love does not compute / needs it to be explained" by making a story where love is intuitively obvious to robots but they can't understand hate / violence (probably to their manufacturers' dismay) because they can run the numbers and see how it never works out. like WarGames, i guess, but different
