somebody on this gay mech website must know what to do about our gundam zz problem

so the subtitle situation for zz appears to be pretty abysmal. here's what our choices seem to be:

option 1 - godawful 2009 subs on decent video

option 2 - patching the 2015 official subs onto those files. except we've tried that and failed

option 3 - 2015 subs on video that cuts the op and end off for some reason

option 4 - 2015 subs on a 300 fucking GB release. how did you even manage to create this. is encoding a joke to you

option 5 - give up and move on to char's counterattack

help us. cat would like to go through uc properly but i'm bending towards door 5. they didn't even put char in this one. it isn't even anime

i wonder if the problem with option 3 is the dreaded ordered chapters? did you acquire the op/ed files and does the player you're using support ordered chapters?

otherwise yea just watch whatever (we got kinda bored part way into zeta so i am a fake gundam fan)

ZZ is fantastic don’t skip it!!

Would any of these happen to be the ZetaRebel release because that’s what I used after struggling through most of those same issues. I can help you find that if it’s not one you’ve already tried.

Checking an episode now since it’s been like a year…:

  • Good video
  • OP and ED included
  • Subtitles seem good so far, going to check the part I know people did shock subs on… (edit: yeah the subs are fine)
  • It’s a little under 70GB so it’s still big but not horrendous

I've never actually looked into it, but what is even going on with the bad subs version? Was that an official thing, or an early fan sub that just got widely distributed? I get that ZZ was quite a tone shift from Zeta, but just immediately having slurs thrown around was a surprise 😬
