All the way back in 2011, I was one of three that released this NASCAR Racing 2003 mod, now converted to Assetto Corsa.
All Daytona USA games released to that point were our inspiration, but having been lucky enough to experience the arcade cabinet as a teenager, Daytona USA 2 was my favorite.
This game was a happy place, and an unattainable legend all at the same time. I'd played it, but reaching the place where the cabinet was, was a rare opportunity. To say Daytona USA was a once obsession is an understatement - I am still obsessed!
25 years after the arcade release, 12 years after we'd completed the DU-Univ mod, our wildest dreams came true. We thought emulation would get to 100% before we'd get a home port. And while Model 3 emulation is in a pretty good place right now, the home port through Like a Dragon Gaiden remains the biggest surprise.
There's no use... Sega just knows how to get me.
It's like I'm back home. This is Daytona USA 2.
