What's this about?
I've built a 1990's IMSA GTP racecar for a "build and race" competition, where participants build a race car in a game called Automation, then export it into another game called BeamNG.Drive and run time trials to try and achieve the fastest times possible at each event. The challenge comes not just from the driving, but from the engineering; you have a set of rules and regulations for your build that need to be followed. This magazine excerpt was created by yours truly, using a screenshot from Cyberpunk 2077 and a screenshot of the car from Automation. I used Paint.NET to edit the image, with the help of some paper damage assets I have.
Also, his nickname is "Soft Hands" because he gives good handies. I don't let the fictional drivers racing my cars be anything but the queerest of the queer lol.
the only idea i had going into building this was making the most obscene car i can, while still making it look like a car. this is the result.
it handles like a fucking Formula 1 car, whipping around Road Atlanta with a speed I don't think the track had ever seen before. If you hit a bump just the right way while cornering, it's very easy to grip-roll it and do cartwheels into the catchfence. It's an absolutely mental machine, and i love it. This is probably my favorite car to drive, but the last Novamari race car I built is a better looking car overall imo.
Car Details (Engineer/Nerd Shit)
The Novamari KDM-8B is a mid-engine rear-wheel-drive car hooked to a 6-speed sequential gearbox and a 3.7L DOHC V8. It has a single turbo spitting out about 18 PSI, making the car produce 948 horsepower at 8200 RPM. The engine is placed longitudinally in the car, taking away quite a lot of room in the cockpit and forcing the driver to be placed pretty far forward in the car. That can act as an aid for weight balance since the V8 engine is so heavy in the rear, but it also means the driver gets this sense of swaying on a pendulum whenever they turn into a corner. It uses pushrod suspension in the front and rear, and it's put on very soft qualifying slicks. The wheels themselves are 325/40R16 in the front, and 345/40R16 in the rear. It's capable of going 0-100 km/h in two seconds.
