"NiGHTS (Drum & Bass Mix)" by Xpressive Records
Curator's Note: Not really a remix of a specific NiGHTS song, just an official drum & bass song that has similar vibes and uses sound effects from it

This whole album is fascinating. There's this, there's the Daytona House Mix with its adorable use of the game's voice sound effects, there's Chicago House legend Marshall Jefferson doing Virtua Fighter (House Mix), UK jungle artist and Virtua Cop (Jungle Mix), Richard Jacques and the NiGHTS Ambient Trance Mix...
It's such a nice slice of 1996, so many styles of the era converging here. Even if (or especially because of) barely anything sounds like specific songs from the games referenced, this whole album just gives me the impression Sega invited a bunch of artists to jam together, sample game sound effects, and just have fun and make something cool instead of specifically a remix album. It's... so very of its time in a way that's hard to describe. I know it's probably not but it feels like only the mid-90s could have produced that.
