That "Weapon of Choice" one might be the grandpappy here? Looking for more, always more. Any favs? Some examples I've been listening to again after break:
This ended up becoming a whole evening of music videos, so thanks to op for making our night. Here are the top picks from me and the partner. We tried to be discerning about what was the right kind of video (Billie Eilish's recent 'Lunch' and a lot of Kate Bush for example are too singer-y and camera-acknowledging, sometimes editing ruins it, etc.) Some of these still having singing / lip-syncing and lots of effects and framing narrative involved, but I think they are going for essentially the same thing.
da list:
Gorillaz - DARE

Kap Bambino - Hey! (unofficial music video)

Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity (sorry but it's true... somehow evades the disqualifying effects of the above factors, plus he is wearing his least annoying hat)

Radiohead!!!!!!!!!!! - Lotus Flower

Honorable Mention: LFO (not that LFO) - Freak
(Certainly more than one dancer, but again I feel like it's the same intention)
