I finished Tales of Arise today, and while this is my “finished a game and now writing about it” -post, it also isn’t. This isn’t really about Tales of Arise, for most part. This is about video game anime openings. I love them, want more of them. Or openings of any kind, probably doesn’t need to be anime, but those especially tickle my anime nerd part of brain.

And Tales of games are good with those, but tales of Arise gave me something I had not considered before. Maybe not the first game to do this, but I don’t remember other examples of this. It had, what I call a Season 2 op. Second opening, and not just an alternative one, but deliberately one for the second half of the story. That’s super neat.

And more games should do that. Wouldn’t fit every game, needs something long enough and maybe with sufficient break point for the switch. Like Dragon Quest XI, would suit it perfectly. Definitely under explored well of potential.

The other example I can think of is Wild Arms 2. It changes when you get to disc 2!

It's kinda nice because I'm used to OP's alluding to basically everything that happens in a plot. But when you see a second one you go 'oh I didn't know all this was here!'
