Just got given a bigass suitcase full of old tech and it had an original kindle in it. Im kind of in love with it. I must have been living under a rock in 2007 because i had NO IDEA they were anything like this. It has a full qwerty keyboard, it has a scroll wheel, it has an on/off SWITCH, it has PHYSICAL page forward/back buttons!!!! My perception of an e reader is the kindle fires which is just a tablet that can book. But this thing feels like it was made to book. Its pretty much the only thing it does. The fact that it doesn't have a backlight would probably aggravate most people but i love it so much because "normal" screens suck to read on. It cant get internet anymore but i can just plug it into my desktop and get books on it that way. It does mp3s too, so i could use it as the biggest, dumbest mp3 player in the world if i wanted.
here she is! What a beauty. Whoever owned it before had a big library of books on it. Its kind of awesome to see. I can see her bookmarks and everything. Makes me a little emotional.
