discord isn't a messaging app, it's a weird kind of video game voice chat app that's had "servers" built around the voice chats and which you can sort of message people on by accident. it's like if ventrilo was bloated and difficult to use

Don't worry, they seem to be doing their best to fix that accidental messaging functionality right out of it.
discord is particularly troubling to me because i've found myself watching TV over it, despite it being the worst software imaginable for the purpose
